Almost 40 years

Our History

1984

Mader, originally from Buffalo, New York, established the original organization in Central Florida. Much of the early work supported the development of Epcot at Walt Disney World. After a few years, Mader returned to New York, separating Mader (located in Buffalo) and establishing Mader Southeast under Tom Johnson Senior’s management.

1984

1986

Mader Southeast preforms exterior and interior finishes on the Peabody Hotel. All exterior finishes were panelized/prefab offsite, making it one of the most significant prefabricated projects for an exterior system at the time.

1986

1990 - 1994

Mader preforms the interior and exterior finish system for the Swan and Dolphin Hotel, completes Tower of Terror, begins Phase I of the Orange County Convention Center, and becomes Contractor at Islands of Adventure. These high-profile projects elevate Mader Southeast in the Central Florida market.

1990 - 1994

1995- 2000

Mader Southeast continues to be heavily involved in some of the high-profile projects in the Central Florida market, such as the Orange County Courthouse. In 1999, the organization expands, opening a second office in Tampa, Florida.

1995- 2000

2001 – 2002

Mader Southeast is retained as a contractor for Phase II of the Orange County Convention Center, and by JW World Marriott, The Ritz Carlton on John Young, and Disney’s Shades of Green.

2001 – 2002

2004-2006

Mader Southeast completes Phase II of the Peabody, now known as the Hyatt Regency on I-Drive, and is involved in Universal Studios 1st Harry Potter theme park. This is the Harry Potter project that jump-started Mader Southeast’s involvement in all Harry Potter Phases of each park!

2004-2006

2006

Masco Companies acquires Mader Southeast. Mader Southeast continues to evolve with an office in Jacksonville, FL, doing projects such as the Jacksonville International Airport, the FBI building in Jacksonville, and the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast.

2006

2012

Masco divests of Mader Southeast leading to Jim Morehead (one of Mader Southeast’s original partners) jump starting MSE2. This reestablishes Mader Southeast as a privately held company.

2012

2018

Adam Eckelbarger, a long time employee, takes over the position of CEO and President. Jim Morehead is still involved today as board of director for the organization.

2018

2024 and beyond

Mader Southeast continues to be the premier commercial drywall contractor in Florida, partnering with clients throughout Central Florida and Tampa.
